Baby skin is the most delicate kind. The right wash routine keeps colours, prints and fabric feel exactly as they were on day one — here's how we care for every material across the Aapon Clothing range.
Cotton basics
Machine wash on a gentle cycle, cold or 30°C. Tumble dry low, or air dry to keep the softness that makes cotton feel so good against skin.
Wool & knits
Hand wash, or a delicate machine cycle in cool water only. Lay flat to dry — hanging knitwear stretches it out of shape.
Organic fabrics
Use a mild, eco-friendly detergent with no bleach or optical brighteners. Air-dry when you can — it's gentlest on skin-safe finishes. Curious why we lean organic? See what actually makes a difference.
Special occasion wear
Spot clean light marks where you can. Delicate embroidery or fine trims should follow the garment's own label — some pieces are dry-clean only.
Five habits that make clothes last
- Skip the bleach and strong softener. Both wear down fibres faster and can irritate sensitive skin.
- Check the label first. Care symbols vary between pieces, even within the same collection.
- Iron on low, inside out. Most baby clothes don't need it at all — printed designs especially shouldn't meet a hot iron directly.
- Close snaps and zips before washing. It stops fastenings snagging on other clothes in the drum.
- Wash before first wear. A first gentle wash removes any finishing residue before it touches skin.
Common questions
How often should I wash new baby clothes before wearing them?
Once is usually enough. A single gentle, cold wash removes any residue from manufacturing and packaging without wearing down the fabric.
Can I tumble dry printed designs?
Low heat only, and turn the item inside out first. High heat is the most common reason prints crack or fade early.
What if there's no care label?
Default to the gentlest option: cold hand wash, air dry. It's slower, but it protects fabric and print alike — or ask our team and we'll check the exact care details for you.
Is it safe to wash organic cotton with regular clothes?
Yes — just match colours as you normally would. Organic cotton doesn't need a separate wash, only a milder detergent.
